The painting is based off of a photograph by Steve McCurry. It is a side of Afghanistan that is not seen on the news. But it has been there for thousands of years and will continue to be there for thousands more. This painting is a gift for my parents.
In terms of tools, I painted the whole canvas with palette knives (except for the sky and the fog by the mountains). That is why the style of this painting is very different than my previous ones. I’m really liking the palette knives so I might become a convert.
